Launchlog Converter Tutorial

This little tutorial should show you the capabilities of the program, especially the possibility to create web pages.

Setting up

Screnshoot HTML SettingsAt first you must have the actual Launchlog. Go in the File menu and click on File download. Then accept the given URL by clicking on OK. The status bar should get green until you download the file. After that a Save dialog appears. Launchlog wants to save the file in your application settings dir, where launch log created an own folder. Normally this is the best place since at start-up the program will automatically load the file from there. You can store it on another folder, but then you have to open the file manually.

In this first tutorial you will learn which capabilities Launchlog has to format your html pages.

Go at first in the HTML Settings Menu under the Settings main menu. You will now get an dialog like this:

This contains the Code I used for my example pages. You see that I made some declarations in the header section, and that I linked to an style sheet to format the html page

After the body tag I inserted two html code fragment via SSI. One is for the navigation bar and one is for the advertisement.

After the body tag I appended an script for the website stats and also two includes for more advertisement (hey the author wants to live from the website too!) and the navigation bar again.

You should insert your own code. I recommend that you at least insert one navigation bar or a link to a frame.

When you are not familiar with HTML - never mind. This is an option, but the launch log converter can produce valid html also when you do nothing.

The second option you have is to say how the table will look like. This can be done by the menu HTML Colours in the Settings Menu. At start-up no special colouring will be done. Launchlog will colour any field in white and the header in a golden orange colour. We want now change this. Select the Option Column colours and set for the Payload Column a new Colour. Here we used a light red. (When you see on the screenshot some fields in German this is because I set the program language to German).

HTML ColorsLets short explain the mechanism of colouring. There are several mode available. In all mode the Header of a table with the column titles are coloured in the header colour. You set a colour when you click on the button - A Colour choose Dialog appears and after you close it the Button changed it colour to your selected colour.

The mode available are:

At last you can set the width of the border of the tables.

SelectionNow start with selecting the data on which we are interested. In our example we are interested at the Intelsat Launches. click on Select by Field in the Edit Menu and type in the Edit field "Intelsat" and check "Ignore Case" to make the selection independent of the Writing (e.g. INTELSAT = Intelsat). Also we are interested in a New Selection, so set the marker on this point. The choice of "Search at" should not stand on "ends with", because the entry's end with the Number of the satellite.

After closing the Dialog you see only the Intelsat launches in the table. Now its time to export the table in HTML. We go for that in the Export Menu and Click on Table in HTML.

Now you get some Dialogs where you make some settings. The first are the HTML page specific settings. In this dialog you can set the Title (whcih will be included in the header in the <Title> tag) and at the beginning of the page as an <h1> title.

You will get an Table like this:
